The Forty Five
Club was founded in 1974 with the aim of drawing together veterans
tennis players (men 45 and over, women 40 and over) so as to
provide them with wider opportunities for playing tennis
competitively or simply for pleasure. The club has grown to its
present size of 700 members and there are over 100 Forty Five Club
members who live overseas in many different countries. The 45 Club
offers a variety of tennis activities that are different from what
is available in most tennis clubs. In addition to matches
against other clubs, we organise one day tournaments and overseas
tennis trips. Som eof these are to take groups to play in
tournaments, others are to take parties of 45 Club members on
tennis holidays in interesting places. The 45 Club is NOT an
alternative club but an additional club for its members.
The Forty Five Club is nomadic, without
its own premises. The Queen's Club in Baron's Court has kindly
provided it with a formal address and the Forty Five Club Annual
General Meeting and Cocktail Party and an annual Christmas luncheon
are held there.
