The Forty Five Club was founded in 1974 with the aim of drawing together veterans tennis players (men 45 and over, women 40 and over) so as to provide them with wider opportunities for playing tennis competitively or simply for pleasure. At the end of 1974 the Forty Five Club numbered 27 veterans tennis members; today the membership exceeds 800 and there are over 100 Forty Five Club members who live overseas in many different countries.
The Forty Five Club is nomadic, without its own premises. The Queen’s Club in Baron’s Court has kindly provided it with a formal address and the Forty Five Club Annual General Meeting and Cocktail Party and an annual Christmas luncheon are held there.
Membership of the Forty Five Club does not, however, confer any of the rights and privileges enjoyed by members of Queen’s.
